Sunil Abeyasekera is an ESG Consultant at TDi Sustainability based in Oxford, UK.
Sunil has an extensive background in responsible sourcing, with a focus on traceability, standards and certifications, benchmarking, due diligence, risk assessment, strategy and stakeholder engagement. He has spent his career working with clients in addressing deforestation and human rights risks within the tropical commodity sector, which shares many of the same challenges as the metals and minerals sector.
He has worked with a diverse array of clients and organisations (Oxfam, GIZ and DEFRA) to implement due diligence across supply chains, and supported several large multinational corporations on developing and implementing their corporate sustainability strategies.
Sunil has a background in chemistry, agriculture and the environmental sector, focusing on herbicides, beneficial insects, crop protection and soil pollution. He has also worked on implementing and researching human rights within the aquaculture and dairy sector. Sunil studied BSc Chemistry at the University of Surrey, and MSc Rural Development and Natural Resource Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
