From the King’s Initiative to Sustainable Analytics: the Terra Carta Connection
Sara Yazdi, an accomplished ESG analyst at TDi Sustainability, recently shared her journey from volunteer analyst at the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) to her current position with the TDi team.
Upon completing her Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy and Regulation at the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science, Sara dedicated nearly a year to the SMI, working alongside a passionate group of individuals on the Ten Articles that underpin the Terra Carta mandate.
The Terra Carta, an initiative launched by His Majesty The King (formerly the Prince of Wales) in 2021, seeks to enable the private sector to prioritise Nature, People, and Planet by 2030. This groundbreaking document offers a comprehensive blueprint for businesses to transition toward sustainable markets, utilising nature’s potential and innovative solutions. By becoming Terra Carta Supporters, organisations can earn the coveted Terra Carta Seal, signifying their commitment to sustainable initiatives in the United Kingdom and beyond.
As Sara immersed herself in the SMI’s legacy and collaborative core values, she worked diligently to align the team’s goals, expand their research capabilities, and deepen their understanding of different industries. Her connection to the Terra Carta team remains strong, and it was through her work at the SMI that she discovered TDi Sustainability and began her new journey as an ESG Analyst, furthering her mission of fostering a sustainable future.
Reflecting on her experience, Sara stated, “Being able to work with an initiative launched by His Majesty The King was one of the most inspiring ventures of my life. The SMI set a path for the private sector to incorporate sustainability into their practices, while the Terra Carta honed in on specific aspects to guide its partners and develop collaborative projects such as the Design Lab, which aims to provide creative alliances between art, science, design, and engineering to produce credible and sustainable solutions to the climate crisis.”
With the upcoming Coronation of King Charles, Sara expressed her enthusiasm and hope that His Majesty’s sustainable initiatives will continue to prosper under his guidance.
At TDi Sustainability, Sara has successfully leveraged her prior experience and analytical acumen to broaden her expertise within the sustainability sector, deepening her understanding of TDi’s clients and helping support them in turning their environmental commitments into practical solutions – a personal endeavour she is immensely proud of.
