Julija Menise, Sweden

Julija is a corporate social responsibility expert with experience in review and analysis of international standards and national laws and policy instruments related to human rights, labour rights, conflict minerals, supply chain traceability among others. With her academic background in human rights law and environmental management and policy, her extensive field experience, and deep knowledge of responsible sourcing laws and international standards such as IFC Performance Standards, California Transparency in Supply Chains Act, Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act, UK Modern Slavery Act, OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, the Responsible Jewellery Council, Julija has worked on advisory projects with clients related to development of responsible sourcing and due diligence programs, including supply chain mapping and risk assessments, training, supplier monitoring and capacity building and continuous improvement. Currently Julija is working with a group of luxury jewellery brands and mining companies on the development of due diligence tools for coloured gemstone industry aligned with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance.

Julija has extensive onsite assessment experience conducting social and labour due diligence assessments, conflict mineral traceability assessments, management system assessments in industries ranging from industrial mining, smelting, manufacturing and retail to wood products and food and beverage in over 40 countries in Europe, Latin America and Central Asia.

Julija has a BA in Public Law and MA in Jurisprudence from the Police Academy of Latvia and LL.M in Human Rights Law and Intellectual Property Rights from Lund University, Sweden. She is fluent in English, Russian and Latvian, and proficient in Swedish.
